October / November Fishing Report -New boat coming

October and November are usually and have been by far the wettest and rainiest months of the year. Every day like clockwork the storms approach the lodge from offshore. As the clouds move towards us from Isla Cebaco, Isla Coiba and Cerra Hoya you can hear the monkeys howl as they prepare for the oncoming rain.

We typically close the lodge down for our yearly maintenance schedule and we prefer to keep our fleet out of the water for precautions with the lightning that accommodate the storms here on the tuna coast.  Overall the towns on the tuna coast which include, Mariato, Morrillo, Palo Seco, Torio and Playa Reina have been very slow tourism wise due to the climate this time of year. The electricity has been consistently going out around 2-3 times a week making our Onan generator at the lodge essential to continue maintenance during these times. Currently, we are painting the lodge, adding new split unit air conditioners in the bar area, completing all the maintenance on the boats and work trucks.

The biggest news for us during this month has to be the shipping and arrival of our new addition our Panama fishing fleet, our 32-foot custom built centre console built by Mimsa Astilleros in Merida Mexico.  The custom built the boat from bow to stern to meet our specific fishing needs. We are currently mounting the new Yamaha outboards and the new set of Garmin Electronics. We also added a custom popping rail on the bow to ease the ability to throw the popper here on the Tuna Coast, Mariato. In regards to booking your 2019 fishing trip in Panama, now is the time to book as we offer a 10% discount for the 2019 Panama fishing season until Thanksgiving day.
