Customized Fishing Packages – Off Day Activities

When people visit El Rio Negro Sport Fishing Lodge, it is because they have planned a vacation where they will be able to catch a variety of great fish in our surrounding world renowned fishing grounds.

However, many guests of the lodge have discovered that they like to include an “off day” and have more of a customized fishing package. Enjoy and explore the area around our Lodge. Do some non fishing activities. Because of this, as more and more visitors make their way to El Rio Negro, many are asking to have some of these activities included in their vacation package.

Therefore, if you’re ready to explore such beautiful and fascinating areas as Azuero Coast Panama, Veraguas Panama, and many other nearby areas, you’ll soon find yourself not only enjoying plenty of great fishing, but many other activities as well.

Surfing

Whether you are a beginner or an expert on the waves, guests of El Rio Negro can schedule some serious surfing time in around their fishing trips. If you are interested in this activity, Morrillo Panama is the place to be, since Morrillo Beach is only a short distance from the lodge. With plenty of experienced instructors available, lessons and surfboard rentals are easy to obtain. Lessons generally cost $25/hour, with most lessons lasting up to two hours. And if you need to rent equipment, fees range from $25 for a boogie board to $40 for a hard-top SUP.

Stand-Up Paddleboarding

Similar to surfing, this activity is quickly growing in popularity in Panama. Appealing to people of all ages due to it being easy to learn as well as a great workout, stand-up paddleboarding is fun whether you’re in Playa Reina Panama, Morrillo Panama, Mariato Panama, or any of the other surrounding areas. For many guests of the lodge, the highlight of their paddleboarding experience is spending time in the beautiful mangrove inlets, where they can see plenty of unique birds, mammals, plants, and marine life. For those who are interested in a paddleboarding tour, the cost is $65 for a three-hour tour per person, with a two-person minimum required.

Snorkeling

From Cerro Hoya Panama to Azuero Coast Panama and numerous points in between, many guests choose snorkeling as one of their off-day activities. An all-day activity costing $399 for up to four people per boat, which also includes all equipment, lunch, and beverages, guests take a 30-minute boat ride to a secluded paradise island near Playa Reina Panama and Cerro Hoya Panama. Once there, the day is spent having a spectacular one-of-a-kind ocean adventure, exploring the coral reefs while sharing the water with whales, dolphins, sea turtles, and a variety of seabirds.

Waterfall Tours

If you are ready to see some of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world, then Cerro Hoyas National Park is your perfect destination. Offered as both half-day and full-day tours, both of which require a two-person minimum, these tours have guests taking pictures of not only the many majestic waterfalls, but also the plentiful wildlife and beautiful flowers located nearby. If you choose the half-day tour, which costs $45 per person, it will take about 2.5 hours and include a hike considered to be moderate in difficulty. However, for the full-day tour that costs $95 per person, guests leave the lodge at 7 a.m. and return by 4 p.m., with plenty of great stories to tell and pictures to show their friends. However, be prepared for a hike through Cerro Hoyas National Park that is rated difficult, so you best be in good shape for this expedition.

Cerro Hoyas National Park

Considered one of Panama’s true gems, this national park is conveniently located just down the road from El Rio Negro. If you want to take a tour of the park, you can do so for $95 per person with a two-person minimum, and also have a delicious homemade lunch included in your package. For bird lovers, they will get the chance to see as many as 95 different species, including the exotic painted parakeet. An all-day adventure from 7 a.m.-4 p.m., the various hiking trails located in the park will no doubt offer the adventure of a lifetime.

Traditional Cooking Class

If on the other hand you prefer to do something a bit less strenuous, use your off-day to enjoy a traditional cooking class. For $55, which includes the class and lunch for two, you can learn how to cook authentic Panamanian dishes from local cooks who use a variety of Old-World techniques. While you’re sure to have plenty of fun along the way, the best part is at the end of the class, you get to sit down and sample your creation, along with those of your fellow class members, all while enjoying great-tasting Panamanian coffee.

Authentic Home Experience

If you really want to know what it is like to live in Panama, there is no better way to do so than to spend your off-day from fishing having an authentic home experience. For $95 per person, with a two-person minimum, you can get a true feel for how it feels to live a typical day in Mariato Panama, Morrillo Panama, or many other parts of this beautiful nation. While exploring rivers, waterfalls, and swimming holes, you’ll also learn how native Panamanians grow and cook their foods, as well as many other aspects of daily life. All in all, while enjoying a home-cooked meal at the end of the day, you’ll come away from the experience understanding why Panamanians are indeed the happiest people on planet Earth.

Horseback Riding Tours

Finally, if you are ready to feel the wind in your hair, explore Veraguas Panama, the Waterfall Trail, and other local sites while taking a horseback riding tour. Whether you ride along the beach or alongside a river, you’ll enjoy stunning mountain landscapes that are sure to take your breath away. And more than likely, your horse will lead you to a swimming hole, where you can even take a refreshing dip if you like. As you’ll soon discover, Panama has a beauty unto itself.
