Panama Fishing Report – February 2016

Windy February!

The dry season winds made fishing in Panama a challenge this February. In spite of the adverse conditions we still managed to have plenty of fun times. Even being challenged by Mother Nature we were able to find our share of fish.

The wind kept us close to shore where each of our two groups for the month were able to practice their popping and jigging techniques. While many Panama day charters emphasize trolling, we were more than happy to help our guests sharpen their skills in these challenging methods.Through the course of our fishing days in February we were able to tease out some larger amberjack, along with snapper, grouper, and tuna.

Staying close to shore allowed us to share the natural beauty of our area of the coast. Isla Cebaco and Punta Naranjo were on the itinerary. When weather allowed we were able to spend two days at Coiba Island.

As with other Panama fishing tours we did manage to get some trolling in when the winds slacked enough to allow it. Our guests were pleasantly entertained with the variety of techniques employed, the various species encountered, and the outstanding scenery provided by a day of fishing in Panama.
