Panama Fishing Report – April/May 2016

The El Rio Negro team has spent quite a bit of time fishing in Panama the last couple of months. Here’s the report.

We hosted four groups at our Panama fishing lodge between April and May, and fished for a total of ten days. We caught some larger amberjacks than expected on those trips, and also caught plenty of tuna, snappers, wahoos, and groupers. Of course, the usual fun times were had by all because it’s fishing.

Offshore is where the action is right now, which is pretty normal when fishing in Panama this time of year. We’ve spotted lots of big tuna swimming in the Hannibal Bank and Isla Montuosa areas. There were even a couple of days where we saw nice swarms of fish not far from the lodge, but the fish are mostly concentrated in the south right now.

Over the next few months fish will start pushing further north and closer to the island. This means there will be a lot of fish close to our lodge. We’ll have plenty of bait for the increased activity coming in, so feel free to come join us. Book a trip and join us at our Panama fishing lodge today!
